Die Ausstellung SurReel versammelt digitale Bewegtbildkunst von drei Künstlerinnen, die auf je eigene Weise innere Realitäten zeigen und damit überraschende Welten kreieren. Sie richtet den Blick auf das Digitale nicht als ein vornehmlich technisches Medium, sondern als eine Möglichkeit, einen poetischen Raum zu gestalten. Die gezeigten Werke bewegen sich somit an den Schnittstellen von Technologie, Traum, Phantasie und Körper. Durch den Einsatz von 3D-Animation, Motion Graphics, Videomontage und zum Teil AI-generierten Bildern erschaffen die Künstlerinnen Erfahrungsräume, die irritieren, faszinieren und zum Nachdenken, aber auch zum Schmunzeln anregen.
SurReel ist der Beginn einer Ausstellungsreihe, die im CIC und im Venture Café stattfinden wird.

The exhibition SurReel brings together digital moving image art by three artists who each show inner realities in their own way and thus create surprising worlds. It looks at the digital not as a primarily technical medium, but as a way of creating a poetic space. The works on display thus operate at the interfaces between technology, dreams, fantasy and the body. Through the use of 3D animation, motion graphics, video montage and, in some cases, AI-generated images, the artists create experiential spaces that irritate, fascinate and make us think, but also make us smile.
SurReel is the start of a series of exhibitions that will take place at the CIC and the Venture Café.

2020, Corona pandemic. USA. Trump recommends malaria medication* against Covid-19 – or would it be better to spray disinfectant? Lateral thinkers and conspiracy theorists are sprouting up like weeds. Tough fronts are dividing society. The right is gaining ground. Morality is going to the dogs. The country is sinking. Nonetheless: Dogs with masks – cool at the pool. Make america great again!
Great again! – a short ironic reference to the ignorance of certain people about the seriousness of the situation at the time of the corona pandemic. P.S.: Corona masks were also available for dogs.

Flippifloppi – what a beautiful day. Get away! My world, my way! Cheerful, life-styled and fully in shape. Fuck the norm! Gambling, swiping, liking. Passion paths abhiken. What does the world cost. After us the others. Hell now!
Noltes video “hell now!” takes an ironic look at human ignorance of the destruction of our own habitat. The videoartwork was created in 2023 on the occasion of the Berlin arts festival artspring and was exhibited as video and as additional bigprint wallart in front of the historical cinema Collosseum. In 2024 it was award awarded by the USA magazine Creative Quarterly.

It’s all Set was created at the invitation of curator Canberk Akzal for the art event HABITAT. His vision: “Kitsch and crazy. Lot’s of people. Rave. Do what you want, Anja!” And so she did.
